Overview
The goal of the Trauma Program is to train students to become mental health professionals capable of providing direct client services to minimize the effects of trauma and related mental health disorders in populations affected by natural and manmade disasters. Students will be trained to counsel one-on-one and to target mental health disorders including PTSD, Dissociative Disorders, Suicidal Ideation and Behavior, and Substance Abuse. In keeping with the mission of being Christian Leaders to change the world, training will include strategies for supporting indigenous leaders, volunteers, or health personnel to provide individual MH services after deployment team is no longer on site. There will also be an emphasis on networking the support efforts of other humanitarian groups in supplying for the basic needs of affected populations.
